What are we hiding from ourselves?

Poetry is where I am my most vulnerable. My creative process is primarily a stream of consciousness and I try to keep editing to a minimum in order to maintain the authenticity of what is just beneath the surface. I often write when the emotions have built up too much that they demand to be recognized, to be given a voice. The two poetry collections I have compiled both represent different times in my life where I was growing, changing, healing, becoming.

My experiences in poetry primarily are within the world of slam poetry. Existing outside of traditional meter and rhyme schemes allows for a flexible, openness to the flow of what needs to be said.
